Barbara and Sheila have been friends ever since they first met nine years ago in a beauty pageant. But now that they have shed their crowns, Barbara thinks Sheila needs to cut back on the pageant makeup. "She cakes it on," Barbara says. "It takes her two hours!"

Sheila believes when it comes to weight, less is more. But with makeup, "More is more!" She loves big hair and even wears makeup to bed. "What if there's a fire?" she says.
With a little help from Gretta, Barbara's wish for Sheila to tone down her look comes true.

"Basically, like it or not, your style is the biggest communicator of who you are and how you are going to be perceived, for better or for worse," says Gretta. "What Barbara kept saying was 'I want my friend's true beauty to show up. I'm not trying to douse her look down.'"

Gretta outfits Sheila in a pair of black, stretchy pants that accentuate her natural curves with a soft, light-colored blouse on top. "Clothing, beauty -- all the things we use -- are supposed to enhance natural beauty, not cover them." Gretta gives Sheila these tips for keeping her makeup routine subtle and natural-looking:

During the day, use soft, neutral colors. Keep it light.

For nighttime, you can boost it up but don't go crazy. Instead of bold lips, cheeks and eyes, choose one features and highlight it. Keep the rest softer.

Stay within two shades of your primary makeup color. If it's medium-brown during the day, go medium dark or darker brown. Don't suddenly change to blues or greens.
