Streamline Your Beauty Routine
Between showering, drying, spraying, plucking, toning, and moisturizing, Lisa spends up to 20 or more hours a week making herself look presentable. And since she started regularly using makeup at age 18, that adds up to five years of this 46-year-old's life! "If I could learn how to get ready -- and do my makeup and my hair in 15 minutes -- that would be a miracle," Lisa says. "I wish that I had all that time just to enjoy life more!"
Celebrity stylist Mally Roncal says that a typical makeup routine should take no longer than 30 minutes, and offers these tips to help Lisa -- and her extremely patient husband -- regain some time to spend with each other:
Eyes: Mally suggests using Lash Illusion to make your lashes look thicker, fatter and longer in one fell swoop -- and you only need one coat of mascara. "You want to line the upper inner rim of the eye," she says. "That will make the base of your lashes look really thick."
Creams: "You can do your eye cream, your neck cream, your retinol ... do that all at night," Mally instructs, "and in the morning, use a great moisturizer with an SPF that's also a great primer -- that will make your makeup last all day and it will save you on touch-ups."
Foundation: To cut some time from this part of your routine, Mally suggests a good powder foundation. "Use it in a circular motion," she says, "and that will be your concealer, your foundation and your setting powder in one."
Hair: Mally tells Lisa that she needs to use more moisturizer in her hair to make it less crunchy, which Lisa explains comes from the hair spray she uses. And if straight hair is a look Lisa desires, Mally tells her about the T-3 flat iron, which works on wet or dry hair. "It steam-straightens the hair and totally dries it in one," Mally explains.
