Bet you didn’t think Dr. Phil ever made his own dinner, right? Back in his bachelor days, he used to cook an entire meal and eat it from the very same skillet. "When you are a single guy," Dr. Phil explains, "and that is when I learned to cook -- I just cooked everything in one pan and ate it out of the pan. Then I washed the pan and I was done -- it's all going to the same place anyway." A one skillet supper sure makes cleaning up the kitchen easier!
When Rachael asks him if he is an adventurous eater, Dr. Phil jokes, "When I’m hungry I’ll eat anything dead or seriously slowed down." Rach turns the tables on him and asks what he refuses to eat. "Raspberries and tarragon," he reveals. What’s Dr. Phil’s advice for parents of picky eaters? Basically, wait until your kids are hungry enough and they will eat what you make.
Heading into season six of his show, Dr. Phil offers a sneak peak about what's in store, "We are adding something this season that I think is the most exciting thing we’ve ever done," he says. "It's 'Dr. Phil Now.' We are going beyond the headlines, behind the big events and talking about how this affects your family. We are going to ask the questions nobody else is asking."
Rachael plays "Ask Dr. Phil" with the audience and they have some questions that make Dr. Phil get really personal.
Q. "I have a wonderful son and I am dying to be a grandmother. Do you ever want to ask your son when he and his wife are going to have children?"
Dr. Phil: "In order to do that I would have to muzzle my wife because she asks them every single day. It will happen whether it is year two or five, it will happen at the exact right time -- God has a plan. You don't get a vote."
Q. "Dr. Phil you are surrounded by a beautiful wife and lots of women at work, what exactly have you learned about women?"
Dr. Phil: "If you are going to criticize your wife, walk a mile in her shoes. That way when you do it you’re a mile away and you’ve got her shoes."
